A blended software development rate in Egypt runs roughly $20–$35 an hour as of 2026, with juniors nearer $15–$20 and senior engineers reaching $40–$50. Most Egyptian agencies publishing a band on Clutch sit at $25–$49 an hour. That is the whole answer. The rest of this page is where those numbers come from and what they leave out.

We checked seven established Egyptian software firms in August 2026 — SilverKey, Integrant, ITWorx, Robusta, FlairsTech, eSpace and TrianglZ. Not one publishes a rate on its own website. Every one of them says "contact us." So the numbers a buyer in London or Chicago finds are second-hand: Clutch's self-reported bands, and small content sites answering the question the agencies decline to.

What is the hourly rate for a software developer in Egypt?

Egypt's blended agency rate is about $20–$35 per hour in 2026. Junior engineers bill around $15–$20, seniors $40–$50. On Clutch, the Egyptian firms that publish a band — RunProf, Revamp Consulting, Enozom, TrianglZ — cluster at $25–$49/hr. FlairsTech is the outlier below that, at under $25.

How does that compare with India, Eastern Europe and the Gulf?

Egypt sits below Eastern Europe, roughly level with India, and far below hiring locally in the Gulf. The gap that matters is not Egypt versus India — those overlap heavily — it is Egypt versus a GCC local team, where the same work costs two to three times more.

RegionBlended hourly rateNote
Egypt$20–$35Juniors $15–$20 · seniors $40–$50
India$15–$50~$35 average; widest spread of any market here
Eastern Europe$30–$90Poland and Ukraine at the lower end
GCC (local team)$60–$95Hiring inside Saudi Arabia or the UAE directly

Figures as published by Matrix Minds and cross-checked against Clutch's self-reported bands, August 2026. Treat all of them as directional: a "blended rate" hides seniority mix, and a cheap blended rate usually means a junior-heavy team.

Why does the hourly rate matter less than you think?

Because almost nobody sells hours. The number that actually decides whether an agency will talk to you is the minimum project size, and in Egypt that is where buyers get filtered out silently — often without ever being told a rate at all.

FirmPublished minimum
TrianglZ$50,000+
Enozom, eSpace, FlairsTech$25,000–$50,000+
WPExperts$10,000+
Revamp Consulting$5,000+

Read that table again with a $12,000 budget in mind. Most of the visible Egyptian market is closed to you before rates are ever discussed. That is not a criticism of those firms — filtering is rational at their size — but it explains why a sub-$15,000 buyer struggles to get a straight answer from anyone.

What does a first release actually cost?

For a defined first release — one platform, a handful of user roles, one or two integrations — budget $10,000 to $60,000. Below roughly $10,000 you are buying a prototype, not a product you can run a business on. Above $60,000 you are usually paying for scope that could have waited for version two.

Our own position, stated plainly. Techova's first releases start at around $10,000 and typically land between there and $60,000. We are including ourselves in a page that ranks other firms, so you should discount it accordingly — but publishing the number is the point. Anyone can check it against what we quote.

What does the rate not include?

An hourly rate covers engineering time. It does not cover the things that decide whether a project survives its first year — and those are worth more scrutiny than the rate itself.

  • Who actually writes the code. The engineers in the sales call are frequently not the engineers assigned after signature. Ask directly, and ask whether the answer is contractual.
  • Ownership. Whose name is on the repository, the cloud account, the app store account? If the answer is "ours, transferred on final payment," the rate is not the risk — that is.
  • Documentation. Whether your own team, or a team you hire next year, can pick the product up without a call to the original agency.
  • Arabic. If the product needs it, right-to-left layout designed in from the first screen costs far less than retrofitting it after launch.
  • Time zone overlap. Cairo is UTC+2 — a full working day with Europe and the Gulf, and the US East Coast morning. Rates in Asia look similar on paper and buy you fewer shared hours.

Is a cheaper rate a worse team?

Not necessarily, but the cheapest published band is a signal worth reading. Among the Egyptian firms on Clutch in August 2026, the only one publishing an under-$25 rate also carries the lowest client rating in the group, at 4.6. One data point is not a rule — but pricing into the bottom band tends to mean competing on price.

The useful question is not "what is your rate" but "what does a defined first release cost, and what do I own at the end of it".

If you want that answered for something specific, tell us what you are building and we will scope it against a number rather than a rate.
